Set in early 21st-century Japan, Roujin Z follows the Z-001, a revolutionary robotic hospital bed. The film won the 1991 Mainichi Film Award for Animation, earning critical praise from Roger Ebert, and was listed among 500 Essential Anime. It’s also been named one of the top animated comedies by Anime Insider and one of the top 50 anime films in North America.
